Q-FM 96 Battle of the bands
bbeep bbeep bbeep, now for the news. Yes Virginia there is a Santa Claus. Soupbone was one of the five bands chosen by Q-FM 96 to participate in their battle of the bands in conjunction with Quaker Steak and Lube. The competition night will be St Patricks Day. March 17th. We still are not sure of time slot assigned but we will uupdate as we get more information, In the mean time go have a meal at Qaker Steak and lube, get the lay of the land and come out and rock with us on the 17th. Thanks to the event staff with Q-FM 96 for their consideration. As always ( Q-FM 96 is OHIO'S BEST ROCK). Stay tuned for updates. We now send you back to your regularly scheduled programming
New Tune In Sneak Peek
I know that the site has gotten a little stale lately. Soupbone has been playing a few gigs to get us some studio money and we havent had much time to add to the website. Were back in writing mode now and we came up with another Soupbone instant classic. Stoned Cold Hearted Truth. This tune features local slide guitar legend Fenton Beaumont on the glass noodle. Fenton was Slidin' Times Magazine's winner of the brass pinky award 2 years in a row (1989,1990). Walford was a little bummed to be pushed out of the spotlight on this. Screw him.
Were Movin On Up.....
....to the eastside...Weezy tell Florence to answer the door. Well, maybe you had to grow up in the 70's to know what i mean. A couple of cool things have happened for Soupbone recently. We have been in heavy rotation on the great internet radio station Studio2Radio. Our tunes are now being heard daily by music fans all over the US as well as all over the world. For those of you that are new to Studio2Radio, You can check them out by clicking their icon on our links page. To those of you visiting us from Studio2, we say Welcome.
The other cool thing. Soupbone has signed a deal with Versailles Records to be on a complilation album featuring independant original bands that have been influenced by AC/DC. All the members of Soupbone are big AC/DC fans and are honored to be included on this release. The first song we recorded for our first demo was "Girls Got Rythm". This is expected to be released sometime in the spring of 2010.
New Feature
We have added a new feature to the site. It's called Sneak Peak . This offers a peek behind the scenes of our songwriting process. The songs on the Sneak Peek page are preproduction demos that we use to evaluate new tunes and song ideas to see if they will make it on the new album. Some songs will make it, some will not. The perfofmances on the Sneak Peek songs arent perfect. Some might even be downright rough .We may even let the fans select which songs see the studio for our next recording session.
